The Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge were finally released in March 2016. Techies are eager to get their hands on these two handsets as the features are great and this will offer a great experience for users as it is an upgrade from the S6 and the S6 Edge. The phone features a 12 MP primary camera and a 5 MP front facing camera. It also uses a Snapdragon processor which has special cooling liquid pipe to reduce chances of the handset ever overheating. It is a step up from the S6 functionally and in terms of appearance as well although they spot some similarities.
The fact that the phone is a flagship should be warning enough of the prices that are to be expected for the handsets. The Samsung Galaxy S7 is going for $670 while the S7 Edge is available for $780. At the prices, the phones are available on BestBuy through different carriers. The phones are also available from different carriers through monthly plans which are not only more manageable but also seem cheaper, although they are not, because they are spread out over time.
The handsets were available for pre-order from February 23 and they are expected to be available from March 11 2016. Let’s look at the prices at which some of these vendors are offering these phones.
AT&T and Verizon
AT&T has a 30-month plan which makes the S7 available at $23.17 per month while the S7 Edge is available at $26.50 per month as well. AT&T has an additional offer for DIRECTV customers as they are offering live television and watching movies through the smart phone.
Verizon, on the other hand, has a 24 month plan which has the S7 available for $28 per month while the S7 Edge is available for $33 a month.
T-Mobile and Sprint
T-Mobile has a 24 month plan which makes the S7 and the S7 Edge available for $27.91 and $32.50 per month respectively. The carrier also tosses in a whole year’s subscription of Netflix for buyers upon the purchase of the handsets.
As for Sprint, the S7 and S7 Edge are available for $27.09 and $31.25 per month for the 32 GB variants. The 24 month plan also comes with the added bonus of the “Galaxy Forever” which is similar to the iPhone for Life plan where the buyer gets to hand in the old handset after a year in exchange for a new one, plus the monthly payments drop to $25.99 and $30.50 for the S7 and S7 Edge respectively.
Definitely a pricey phone
Make no mistake; the handsets are still quite pricey even with the monthly plans. The purchase should therefore be well thought out. One of the perks of ordering this flagship between 23rd February and 18th March is that every buyer will get a free Gear VR headset with their purchase. This is a sure incentive for buyers on top of what the carriers have to offer. VR is the new revolutionary technology and makes the early purchase of the S7 and S7 Edge worth it because of this added bonus.
