Rumors continue to mill about the Samsung Galaxy S7 which is the next flagship phone from Samsung. It is set to be announced at MWC in February 2016 and the release will be later in March. The phone should be better than the S6. The question on people’s minds is just how much better it will be.
Samsung Galaxy S7 expected features
Some of the features we expect to see in the S7 include a sizeable 5.1 inch display with corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The phone is said to be water and dust proof which would be a great feature, ensuring the handset lasts even longer. The phone is pegged to be super slim, which is a trend that is fast being adopted by different manufacturers. The S7 is rumored to have the Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system. The phone is expected to have different variants for internal memory, that is, 128, 64 and 32 GB. As for the camera, it is expected to have a 12.2 MP primary camera and a 5 MP front-facing camera. The phone is expected in two variants, a curved surface and a flat screen.
Samsung is expected to surprise the tech world with a couple of new features that have not yet been seen in other handsets. Top on this list is the iris scanner expected to be embedded beneath the camera. Samsung has been rumored to be working with Irisense, a company that deals with iris scanner technology. This will be used for, among other things, verification of mobile payments which are sensitive transactions. The S7 is also expected to have e-SIMs which are embedded SIM cards that allow users to change networks without having to switch SIM cards.
The most notable feature that we would like to see in the Galaxy S7 is the projector. Samsung put in a patent for a smart phone screen that can display object mid air back in 2014. It is expected that the camera will be able to sense interactions as the users would be able to select icons by touch, mid air. This holographic display shows icons as opposed to movies and clips.
More rumors and pricing
There continue to be leaks about the handset’s features and specifications but these are just speculations and expectation. The final product will be announced soon and that will clarify a number of contrasting rumors. It is anticipated that unlocking the S7 from a specific network will be similar to unlocking other S series phones from Samsung.
There are applications that one can download for free in order to get an unlock code. The process is quite simple and after following the simple instructions on how to unlock the phone it is expected that the handset will be able to operate on different networks. As for the price, the phone is expected to cost around $800 for Samsung Galaxy S7 and about $900 for the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge+.
